Terms of Use
Last updated 7 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Potiphar (“Potiphar”, “we”, “us”) for your use of potiphar.app and the Potiphar apps. By creating an account you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Potiphar.
1. What Potiphar is
Potiphar helps you keep commitments you make to yourself. You set a goal, choose how long it runs, and stake an amount of money on it. The stake is split evenly across every day of the commitment. Each day you submit proof that is approved, that day's share comes back to your Potiphar wallet. Each day without approved proof by the end of that day (in your time zone), that day's share is forfeited.
2. Eligibility and your account
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract.
- You may have one account. Keep your password private; you're responsible for activity on your account.
- The details you give us, including your name and payout bank account, must be accurate and your own.
3. Stakes, days and forfeits
- Your stake is taken when the commitment starts, either from your wallet balance or by a direct payment.
- Both the start and end day count. The amount at stake each day is the total stake divided by the number of days.
- Dates and stakes can't be changed once a commitment is live.
- A day is lost if no approved proof is submitted before midnight in your time zone. Lost amounts are forfeited to Potiphar and are not refundable.
- Staking on Potiphar is a commitment tool, not a game of chance or an investment. You only ever win back your own money.
4. Proof and review
- Proof must be genuine and taken on the day it's submitted: live photos, videos or screenshots captured in the app, activity imported from a connected fitness app, or a link to your own post for Social Media commitments.
- Proofs are reviewed by the Potiphar team. A day under review can't be lost while it waits, and its share is returned only once the proof is approved. We may reject proof that doesn't match the commitment, appears to be reused, edited or someone else's, or breaks these terms.
- If you believe a proof was wrongly rejected, email us within 7 days and we'll take another look.
- Submitting false proof can lead to forfeited stakes and closure of your account.
5. Your wallet, deposits and withdrawals
- Payments are processed by our payment partner (Paystack). Their terms also apply to payments you make.
- Your wallet balance is money you've deposited or won back and not yet withdrawn. It doesn't earn interest.
- You can withdraw your available balance to a bank account in your own name. Withdrawals usually arrive within one working day but may take longer.
- We may hold a withdrawal while we check for fraud or confirm your identity.
- Money already staked on an active commitment can't be withdrawn until the days it covers are won.
6. The community
- Posts, comments and proofs on public commitments can be seen by other members.
- You keep ownership of what you post, and give Potiphar a licence to display it in the service.
- Don't post anything illegal, hateful, sexual, harassing, or that isn't yours to share. We may remove content and suspend accounts that do.
7. Closing your account
You can close your account at any time by emailing [email protected]. Any available wallet balance is paid to your bank account first. Stakes on active commitments continue to settle day by day until they end. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms; if we do, we'll return your available balance unless it's connected to fraud.
8. Liability
Potiphar is provided as is. We work hard to keep it running, but we can't promise it will always be available or error free. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount in your wallet plus the stakes on your active commitments. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law.
9. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms. If a change is significant we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
